SuperFan, Mike Meyer Creates Superman Comic Book
by Scott Cranford
Superman fan Mike Meyer has created an original Superman Comic book. The story retells the origin of the hero he loves and celebrates the men behind him. Mike gained nation-wide attention when the Illinois resident's Superman collection was stolen. When word of the crime hit the streets, in true Superman fashion, Superman fans from around the world chipped in to rebuild Mikes collection. Mike's unique story caught the attention of Warner Bros., the company behind Superman. They flew Mike to Los Angeles and invited him to the set of Man of Steel where he got to meet Zach Snyder, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams. Mike's original pick for Lois Lane was Two Broke Girl's Kat Dennings but he was won over by Amy Adams when she hugged him. I was thrilled to hear that Mike wanted to meet with me during his super visit. We met only briefly while I was The city of Metropolis' official Superman during the annual Superman Celebration in Illinois. |
We were able to meet up for dinner and I got to hear all about his super adventure. Mike has an extensive knowledge of Superman and his attitude reflects his hero's.
Mike's collection was recovered and the chump who stole it remains behind bars. Like the Man of steel himself would, Mike passed on the donations to children's hospitals. Mike continues to honor The Man of Steel now turning to the drawing table.
