DC COMICS TAKES ON HUNGER
On the heels of DC Comics revealing their new logo, Warner Bros. has announced the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign. This will include on-air promotions featuring DC’s comic book characters including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
Time Warner also will kick in at least $2M over the next two years in cash donations, corporate matches of employee and consumer contributions, and earmarks from certain merchandise sales. ”With the support of the entire studio and our Time Warner sister companies, this campaign, like the DC Comics super heroes, will make a great impact on an important issue.” Warner Bros President Jeff Robinov says. Kudos to DC Comics for their efforts to do some real good.

HW SUPPORTS FELLOW SUPERMAN FAN
HeroicWorld founder Scott Cranford recently spoke with fellow superfriend Mike Myer from a special trip to Cleveland. Myer, a disabled Superman fan who recently had his personal collection of Superman collectibles and memorabilia stolen from his Granite City, IL home, visited the hometown of the Man of Steel this week on a trip donated and organized by fellow Superman fans.
Myer toured historic Superman sites and had a personal tour of the house where Jerry Siegel lived and created the legendary character with Joe Shuster.
Cranford read about Myer's story in the media and donated several comics and a copy of his superhero documentary Heroic Ambition to Myer, who visited with Cranford via telephone and shared his gratitude and mutual love for the Man of Steel.
"It's nice to see that good can come out of bad situations," said Cranford in response to Myer's story. Justice has been served as the man responsible for the theft of Myer's collection has been sent to jail for the crime.
HeroicWorld wishes all the best to Mike Myer and thanks everyone for the generous outpouring of kindness to a fellow Superman fan!

AVENGERS PREPARE FOR HEROIC GLORY
Superheroes are assembling for what may be the biggest superhero film of the decade. Captain America, Ironman, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury and The Incredible Hulk will team up for the Avengers set for release next summer.
Marvel has been building up to this movie event for years. Captain America, Ironman and Thor have all ended with Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson in recruit mode for Marvel's most famous superhero team. Those involved are hoping that the success of the Avengers will spawn franchises for less prominent heroes like Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Just as Thor's brother Loki was the adversary in the first Avengers comic book he will battle the team in the Avengers film although it is likely he won't be their only challenge. You can see the latest Avengers trailer by clicking here.

SUPER INDULGENCES?
Living a heroic lifestyle means feeling good and being physically fit. This not only means getting out and exercising, it also means putting the right foods and the right amount of foods into your body. So what about burgers, fries and heroic size shakes?
It's okay to indulge every now and then, in fact it is good to satisfy cravings to get them out of the way. But don't let it become a habit. Processed foods will slow you down and too much processed foods will make you feel sluggish and could eventually lead to heart disease.
Many have had success having one meal a week where they can have anything they want. Eliminating cravings all at once has less of a negative impact on your body than if you spread indulgences out over the week.

THE PUNISHER IS COMING TO TELEVISION
Variety reports that The Punisher is coming to Fox Television. The series is brought to you by Ed Bernero, an ex-Chicago cop and co-creator of Third Watch and Criminal Minds and Paul Lee who is responsible for the forthcoming TV adaptation The Incredible Hulk.
The story will focus on NYPD detective Frank Castle, whose alter ego is that of a vigilante seeking justice for those failed by the court system.
The series will most likely take a much less violent approach to the vengeful hero than displayed in the recent movies. While the Punisher has had mild success at the box office, none of the three attempts have ever merited a sequel. Perhaps less severe punishment may be the key to this characters live action success.

SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL FIRST PIC REVEALED
Warner Bros. has released the first picture of Henry Cavill from Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel. Warner has strayed away from choosing a posing shot instead going with an Action shot. Seems like a smart move as fan reaction has been positive for the most part.
It is still unclear from the photo whether Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel will follow DC Comics latest decision to lose the red trunks, however it is clear that they will not be using the high collar as depicted in the upcoming new issues of Action Comics and Superman.
This photo was released on the heels of the announcement that Lawrence Fishburn (The Matrix ) will be playing gruff Daily Planet Chief, Perry White.

CAPTAIN AMERICA GOES GLOBAL
Captain America is looking to be the biggest superhero movie of the summer. This is the patriotic superheroes second time hitting the big screen, this time being portrayed by Chris Evans. Chris Evans also portrayed The HumanTorch in the recent Fantastic Four films.
The shield swinging avenger's american roots challenged the movie makers marketing team in the global film market. In a time when Superman has given up his American citizenship, Captain America takes a different stance.
The film will be titled The First Avenger in Russia, The Ukraine and South Korea, however the film will be titled Captain America: The First Avenger in all other countries. Go America!
Perhaps Captain America 2 will be filmed in America.

GREEN LANTERN RUNG BY CRITICS
Green Lantern hoped it would shine bright all summer long but appears to be dimming rapidly. The emerald avenger dropped at the box office 65% in it's second week. It didn't help that most respected film critics were turned off by the inconsistency of of the plot. It is not a good sign when their best review came from VH1. Some die hard Lantern fans were impressed that the film tried to deliver so much fan-geeky-ness but were disappointed that it couldn't reach out to the masses.
DC Comics and Warner Bros. were planning on the green hero to save their bacon as their competition Marvel continues to hammer out hit after hit. The chances of a sequel and more films starring second stringer characters from DC's universe aren't looking great right now.
Fortunately for Warner / DC, it looks like their superstars Batman and Superman will deliver.

SUPERHEROES STOPPED SHORT
Two high profile Superhero projects will not be moving forward.
The Governator cartoon which was to feature Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Governor leading a double life has been terminated. Arnold Schwarzenegger's less than heroic real life antics stopped the former Bodybuilder/ Actor/ Governor in his hummer tracks.
WonderWoman also met her demise as the much anticipated David E. Kelley series starring Adrianne Palicki of Friday Night Lights as the lasso swinging heroine got cut short when angry fans through protesting tweets intimidated the producers and put an end to it.

SMALLVILLE'S BIG FINISH
After a decade of small screen heroics, Smallville has come to a close. The CW TV show with huge ambition followed the life of Clark Kent before he became Superman. From the onset the series promised no flights no tights.
Many speculated that Smallville star Tom Welling would dawn the suit during the finale and introduce the character to the world after an earth saving feat or that he would be shown as Superman in all his glory. Many were disappointed when Welling ripped open his shirt only revealing the famous S.
One irate fan stated "I spent ten years watching that show and Welling can't put on the suit for ten minutes... $%#&!". Heroicworld guest reviewer Chris Brockow wasn't so harsh. You can read his Smallville Finale Review here.

JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE GETS REAL
A live action Justice League movie is on it's way. Warner Bros recently announced that a feature film based on the popular comic book Justice League will be released in 2013.
The Justice League will not follow the same continuity as the Christopher Nolan produced Batman and Superman films which are currently in production and will feature different actors in the roles of Superman and Batman. It is unclear about the Green Lantern.
DC has had a much looser consistency in their comic book story lines compared to their rival Marvel. It looks like they will be following suit with their movies as well.
Warner Bros./DC's plan is to spin off Wonder Woman and Flash into their own film franchises.
