Marvel's Iron Man Hits the Silver
Screen!
Marvel
Studio's metal hero burst onto the Silver Screen when
the long-anticipated big screen adaptation of Iron
Man premiered Friday, May 2. Robert
Downey Jr. stars as billionaire Tony Stark
who invents the high-tech suit which he uses for his
iron-clad heroic persona. Gwynth Paltrow, Jeff
Bridges and Terrence Howard round
out the top flight cast for the latest big budget adventure
from Marvel Studios. Iron Man

DC's New Frontier on DVD
DC’s
latest direct to DVD animated feature is based on Darwyn
Cookes’ hit comic-book, The New Frontier.
On the heels of the successful Doomsday animated
feature, this ambitious project features the Justice
League in the late Forties. The film is not only a historical
tribute but also focuses on social issues as well. The
New Frontier was released on February
26th.
Captain America Returns
Captain America
is returning after being killed off last year in a highly
publicized story. However, it will not be Steve Rogers
filling those red, white and blue boots. Captain America’s
sidekick, Bucky Barnes, will be taking over where our
fallen hero has left off. Not having the advantage of
the super-serum as Rogers had, the new Captain America
will carry a gun. Will fans accept seeing a gun in the
hands of one the worlds’ greatest superheroes?
Smallville Picked Up for New
Eighth Season
Clark Kent's adolescent journey continues
as Smallville was recently
picked for its eighth season by the WB. However, the
popular super-drama may return without one of its prime
players. Actor Michael Rosenbaum, who
plays Lex Luthor on the hit series, has confirmed that
this will be his last season.
The
WB show has recently introduced many new characters
from the DC canon including Aquaman, The Green Arrow,
Supergirl, Martian Manhunter and Black Canary. Smallville
fans have also seen many familiar faces as it's also
featured many actors who have worked on Superman projects
recently, including Dean Cain (Lois
& Clark: The New Adventures of Superman),
Supergirl Helen Slater and Marc McClure
(Jimmy Olson from the Superman movie series).
The Dark Knight's Villains
New versions of some old villains will soon
be running amok in Gotham City. Batman faces many villains
in his latest big screen adventure when he returns to
theaters in The Dark Knight.
Actor Christian Bale returns as the Dark Knight and
faces The Joker (played by the late Heath Ledger),
Two Face and possibly even Harley Quinn. The backbone
of the story is the beginning of Harvey Dent while the
Joker is loose and raising mayhem.
The Hulk Sees Red!
Comic book superstars Jeph Loeb
and Ed McGuiness have re-teamed to
change the color of the Hulk. Hulk # 1,
currently where comics are sold, features a much angrier
Hulk, so angry he’s even changed color. Marvel’s
keeping the Hulk hot by delivering this highly anticipated
Hulk story immediately after the conclusion of World
War Hulk.
SpiderMan Gets New Blood
Director Sam Raimi feels
he has completed his SpiderMan story with three installments
of the popular SpiderMan movie franchise, but reports
say Sony Studios will continue the franchise with a
brand new director and cast. Screenwriter James
Vanderbilt (The Rundown) has been
hired to write Spiderman’s next adventure. Who
will play our wall-crawling hero in the fourth installment
and how will his story continue? Stay tuned for more
